Scotland’s largest faith-based international development charities plan to host four events to showcase the vital role faith actors play in global peacebuilding. The Faith in Peacebuilding events are being held in partnership with the Scottish Peace Platform. The events, to be held between September 2026 and February 2027, will showcase peacebuilding work in Colombia, Ecuador, the Middle East, South Sudan and Sudan. Not only will the project showcase this work, but also give practical expression to the value of working across and between faiths – being the joint work of Christian Aid, Islamic Relief, Justice & Peace Scotland, the Quakers, SCIAF and Tearfund.
We have worked in high conflict areas on every continent for decades. Each organisation considers peacebuilding as a way of demonstrating faith in action and as a courageous, hopeful response to people living in conflict. The interfaith events will welcome speakers from across the world with vast experience of providing emergency relief, non-violent resistance training and conflict prevention.
These behind-the-scenes explorations of the policies and actions that build peace will shine a new light on the positive, life-giving influence of faith leaders in the midst of war.
